About the ProductionA true independent feature-length film, Issues,
brings practical circumstances to light through the lives of several people who initially
seem dramatically different to each other, but only to soon realize that they have more in
common than what they originally thought. Issues aggressively delves into subjects
that would normally be taboo for the typical Hollywood film, critically attacking the
contradictions of such topics as religion, political opinions, and most importantly going
beneath the surface of male-female relationships without leaving out any details. Very
raw, candid, and to the heart, the characters leave nothing out and anything is fair game,
just as it is in the real world.
Universal material fuels this film, which is
manifested through the urban contemporary experience. Issues gives the audience a
much needed transition into a real comedic/dramatic film, which has been absent for quite
some time. Every day conversations, pet peeves, and thoughts are very expressive through
out this film, which wraps the story up into a very relatable, connecting storyline. In
the spirit of the 1980s television series, Threes Company, Edward
Burns film, The Brothers McMullen (1995), and Kevin Smiths Chasing Amy
(1997), Issues crosses cultural barriers with a bold and unapologetic approach that
is sure to touched a few emotional chords, stimulate minds, and overall, have the audience
laughing in their seats.
